What is the meaning of Ruqyah?

Many people know that there is healing in the Qur’an for many ailments. These ailments may be spiritual or physical. I’ll discuss some concepts related to spiritual healing.

What? - Healing using the Qur’an and authentic Duas is called Ruqyah. Anything that is proven from the Shari’ texts may be used as a means of Ruqyah.

When? - Ruqyah should be used when a person feels he is stricken by black magic, the evil eye, or certain physical ailments (like body pain).

Who? - The one who performs Ruqyah is called a Raaqi. There are certain qualities that a raaqi must posses. Although the requirement isn’t too high, this isn’t something that everyone should delve in without proper knowledge.

How? - As I said, this is performed only through actions that are proven by the Shari’ texts. Any other form of treatment such as amulets, sea shells, writings or designs in a frame, burying of eggs, slaughtering of livestock, reading or murmuring incantations that are illegible is not acceptable and it is strongly recommended that everyone abstain and protect themselves from this.

If you have any specific problem, feel free to post in the comments section and I’ll try and get back to you with an appropriate response.

I pray that this becomes a source of guidance and help for everyone.
