Wrong Beliefs about Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon Him)

In the name of Allah (SWT), the Beneficent, the Merciful

Belief in all the Messengers including our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) (Peace and Blessings of Allah (SWT) be upon Him) is from the pillars of Eemaan. It is important however to have the right belief with respect to our beloved Messenger (Peace and Blessings of Allah (SWT) be upon Him) and not detract from his honor nor exceed in praising him, such that we equal the Christians who ascribed Godhood to Eesa ibn Maryam (Upon him be peace)

the Prophet (SAWS) (Peace and Blessings of Allah (SWT) be upon Him) said: “Do not extol as the Christians extolled the son of Maryam. For I am just His slave, so say, the slave of Allaah and His Messenger” (narrated by al-Bukhaari, 4/142, no. 3445; al-Fath, 6/551), i.e., do not exaggerate in praising me as the Christians exaggerated in praising the Messiah and venerated him until they worshiped him instead of Allaah.

I’ve listed some of the wrong beliefs with respect to our prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah (SWT) be upon Him) so that people may be aware of them and not fall in to the trap of innovations and misguidance.

- Is the Prophet (SAWS) (Peace and Blessings of Allah (SWT) be upon Him) Present and Watching (Haazir and Naazir)?

The correct Aqeedah is, He (Peace and Blessings of Allah (SWT) be upon Him) is not. This Belief was not found amongst the Sahabah and it is a new thing that has been introduced, whereby the innovators (May Allah (SWT) curse them) have twisted the meanings of the Aayaat of the Qur’aan and the Ahadeeth to bring about this despicable innovation.

- Is the Prophet (SAWS) (Peace and Blessings of Allah (SWT) be upon Him) Noor (Light) or Bashar (Human)?

The correct answer is he is Bashar, from the progeny of Adam (Upon him be peace) and Adam was made from dust and so is his progeny including our beloved prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah (SWT) be upon Him) who was the best of creation.

- What is true love of the Prophet (SAWS) (Peace and Blessings of Allah (SWT) be upon Him)? Is it singing nasheeds in his praise or is there more to it than that?

The true love of the Messenger (Peace and Blessings of Allah (SWT) be upon Him) is loving him more anything else including ourselves and acting according his commands and refraining from what he prohibited. Simply singing nasheeds in his praise and dancing about in contravention to the Shareeah, using music, which is haraam, is all contradictory to his teachings and implies an arrogance and disdain for what he has brought.

These are just a few things that I’ve included and I pray that Allah (SWT) guides us through his infinite mercy to all that is good and pure. Countless Salutations on our beloved Prophet, his family, and peace be upon those who follow them till the day of judgment.

And Allah (SWT) knows best.
