A House in Jannah!
A house in paradise is up for the taking. Built by Allah
, the one who created all things in perfect measure.
Allah
will build a house in Heaven for whoever is diligent in observing 12 Sunnah Rak’aat (as follows): 4 Rak’aat before and 2 after the Dhuhr (Midday) Prayer, 2 after the Maghrib (Sunset Prayer), 2 after the ‘Ishaa’ (Evening) Prayer and 2 before the Fajr (Dawn) Prayer.” Hadith sahih narrated by at-Tirmidhi No. 379 and by others. Hadith No. 6183 in Sahih al-Jaami
Think about it. We spend our entire lives working hard, toiling away, spending sleepless nights studying just to earn money and build that dream house. How many years is that?

At least 15 years of studying. Then about 20-25 years of working hard and saving money to buy or construct a house we can call our own. That’s a total of 40 years of hard work to get a house in this dunya that someone else will live in when we die. If we work about 8 hours a day on average, then we’ve spent 116,800 hours (8 hours x 365 days x 40 years)
Now, compare that to this. How much time do you spend in praying 2 rak’aat? 3 minutes if you recite the smaller surahs. So 12 rak’aat would mean 6 two rak’aat units. So that’s:
6 units x 3 minutes = 18 minutes a day. Assuming the average person lives about 65 years. That’s a total of 7,117 hours and 30 minutes.
So tell me, which option provides better Return on Investment? 116,800 hours for a temporary house or 7,117.5 hours for a permanent one?

Assalamu alaikum,
Does this hadeeth means that we get a house in jannah for each day we prayed 12 rakahs or overall we get one house if we pray 12 rakahs regularly ?
Pls clarify.

Apologies for the delayed response.
I only got a chance to speak with my shaykh yesterday. He mentioned that there is a difference of opinion on this hadeeth and those scholars of hadeeth who are ‘liberal’ or open hearted have interpreted this hadeeth as meaning a house for every single day you pray.
However, the shaykh said that what seems more probable is that it is one house for praying regularly. But he still said that it shouldn’t prevent us from hoping for the best from Allah
as his mercy is infinite.
Many houses! That sounds even better!

Wa-Alaykumsalaam,
Good Question!
Seems to me like its one house for being diligent in praying the 12 rak’aat. However, I’ll find out and post it here Insha’Allah
.
My Shaykh is not in town currently, so I don’t know when I’ll get the answer. But I will post it as soon as I do.
Jazakallah
